William's Story
Well, after graduating, I entered the workforce. I bounced from factory to factory for a while, dated a girl from Toronto, proposed to her. She had a breakdown and decided to leave for B.C.
I then completed a music theory and jazz improvisation course from Berklee College of music, which allowed me to teach the above to others as I was certified.
While goofing around one day at Greenwood park with some friends I met a girl who would become my wife, Elaine Docherty.
I went to Durham College and received a certificate in health studies and became a male attendant at Centennary Hospital.
After about five long tears of working I got the bright idea to go back to school.
I received a Diploma, with high honours, from Seneca College and became a Fire Protection Technologist.
I went to work at a Viking Fire Protection designing sprinkler systems. The ones I remember best are the Royal York Hotel and The Grand Ballroom at The Harbour Castle Hilton. After about three years they decided to downsize, so guess who was unemployed again. I went to work at Chrysler in Ajax, lasted three years and got layed off. By thi...Expand for more
s time Elaine and I had a house and a baby boy to look after.
I was hired by the Durham Board of education in the maintenance department where I worked to receive my second diploma from Seneca College in Building Environmental Systems. I worked for twenty years and finally retired.
I still play guitar alot, met and played with some great people, like Jack DeKeyser, Colin James, the late Jeff Healey, Downchild, The Hip, to name a few.
I play solo sometimes, work a band 'E Train', do soundtracks for commercials, anything I can get involved with. Charity events.
I'm just havin' fun and waiting for Elaine to retire so we can buy a live on a boat for the rest of our years. We have been together for thirty-four years and married for twenty-nine of those.
The only thing I don't care for to much, is growing old, not that I wish to live a long time, I wake up with a new ache or pain and can't for the life of me think of anything I might have done the day before to deserve this.
Anyway, I wish you all peace and happiness the rest of your years.
Life is a journey, not a destination.
