William's Story
Life
I went to Seaside High from 1979 - 1982, then moved with my family to Redmond, OR, and finished my senior year at Redmond High. After that, I went to college at Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls, OR, where I received my Associate of Engineering degree in computer technology.
In 1986, I got a great job with Drake Willock (Manufacturers of dialysis equipment), and moved with them to Dallas, Tx. I spent 2 years in Dallas, then moved in-house with the company at it's headquarters in Miami, FL. I lived in Miami for 3 years, then moved back out into the field with the same company, up in Atlanta, GA, where I lived for 5 years.
In 1994, I got tired of all the traveling - by this time I had logged nearly 1 million miles in the air - so I moved back to Portland, and worked as a software engineer, again for the same company, in it's Milwaukie location.
I got married in 1994 to Deborah, who I met in Chattanooga, TN, and convinced her to move out here to the wilds of Oregon. We stayed happily married for 5 years, until we weren't happily married anymore, and got a divorce. I have two step-sons who are now 14 and 15.
In 1997, the medical company I was working for decided to r...Expand for more
elocate the entire business back to Miami, but I elected to stay here in Portland, where I have been ever since.
I am now the Directory of Engineering for a small company that designs Web applications for ODOT, OHSU, OMA, and other government agencies.
For fun, I ride a Harley Road King Classic, go "camping" in my 25' travel trailer, and play with my Great Dane, Diamond.
School
I think the thing I remember most about high school was:
1) Traveling to Warrenton 4 periods a day to the IED training. That really prepared me for "real life". Kent Paulson was a fantastic teacher, and helped mold my mind into the engineer I've become.
2) Surfs up - I thought it was funny when the guys, and some gals, would cut class to go surfing... Now I wish I had joined them, lol
3) Having to go outside to pick my motorcycle off the ground after a big windstorm knocked it down. I didn't have a center stand, so any big wind storm would just knock it right over. I can laugh about that now.
Who did I have a crush on... There was one girl who lived near me in Cullaby Lake.... I remember her name, but I don't think it's fair to mention it here. I hope you had (and are having) a great life my friend.
