Workplace
Work beyond the military began in '75 with the Federal Aviation Administration as an engineer in the Air Traffic Control Automation Division of the Systems Research and Development Service (SRDS) from '75-'80. From '80-'85 was an Airspace Systems Inspection Pilot (ASIP), based out of Atlantic City, NJ. Returned to DC in '85 and continued as an engineer in the Navigation and Landing Division of Systems Engineering. Joined Flight Standards in '89 and have been an Aviation Safety Inspector to Present. Work has included branch management of a requirements branch and currently as National Resource Specialist (NRS) for Communications, Navigation, Surveillance--Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM)while maintaining flight currency in th...Expand for more
e FAA HQS flight operation out of Reagan National Airport(DCA) flying Citation, Gulfstream I,III and IV and King Air aircraft.
Military
Joined up in '62 with Special Forces U.S. Army Reserve(Kennedy's own).Spent 4 years matriculating at USMA, West Point, NY. After jump school and Ranger school, spent a few months with 1st Armd Div at Fort Hood as the Recon Plat Ldr in the 2/6 Inf. '69 and '70 saw a tour in the Nam at both Saigon, initially, and then in Can Tho with the 156 Avn Bn, 509th MI. '70-'72 saw a tour in Berlin, Germany with the 1/6th Inf as "C" Co CO and then as the ops officer for the Chief of Staff for Military Intelligence (ODCI). '72-'74 saw duty with 2/15th Inf at Wildflecken in the "zone" as CO of the Combat Support Company and later S1 for Bad Kissingen Community CO. Opted out in '75 to pursue flying and astronaut plans.
