Hello to my readers, It's been quite awhile since Calumet High and, for that matter, the U of I, but I still think about my friends from both schools. On graduating from Cal, I traded in the maroon and blue for orange and blue and went to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I graduated from the U of I Institute of Aviation with Commercial and Private pilot licenses, then shifted to LAS for my Bachelors (BS: Psychology; BA: Sociology) and then the Graduate School of Social Work for my Masters (MSW). I accepted a leadership position in Grand Rapids Michigan for three years before going back to the U of I for a PhD (Social Work and Business Administration). Attending the University of Illinois proved life shaping. Upon graduating, I was appointed a director at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health System in Mattoon-Charleston for five years before moving to Portland Oregon to be a department director at Oregon Health Sciences University Hospitals and a professor at Portland State University. Living in Portland was absolutely excellent...the beauty of Oregon was beyond words. I lived there until 1992, when I was recruited to Richmond Virginia, where I continue to enjoy living. I served as department director at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals and Associate Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University until 2000 and then became state manager of licensing operations for the Commonwealth of Virginia. While now "sorta" in retirement, in 2022 I was invited to become Executive Director of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond Housing Corporation and I also maintain a life coaching practice which I enjoy (my-lifepath.com).
