William's Story
Life
Married a lovely lady from Ohio. We met in Virgina and married 4 months later. Most people would think I'm out of my mind, but when you know she's the one...then she's the one!! We both don't regret it one bit & are still very much in love. Have a daughter named Sonya & a son named Billy. Have been in the Navy for 14 years and currently stationed to PCD Truxtun (DDG 103). The wife is a wonderful homemaker. I have all the respect in the world for women or men that choose to stay home and keep house and care for kids while the other is out in the work force. For those of you that feel that homemaker isn't a job in itself...SHAME ON YOU!!!
School
High School was great! Moved around a little too much, but met alot of nice people and some not so nice people...but you can't have one without the other..sigh;)
Seward High I really enjoyed, I got word that a good majority of the teachers have long sence retired. I wasn't "Mr Popular" there, but I had some really good friends and played in the majority of the sports.
Toledo High was nice. It was great to move back to where my folks went to school. I continued with the sports, and this is where I started my rebelling & partying a bit excessively.
East Anchorage High, a huge High School!! I still remember the State Football game where East beat Soldotna 36-7, it reminded me of the "Ice Bowl" that I saw on ESPN Classic. Did alot of partying here as well!! I was amazed that I even graduated when I did!!
College
Currently enrolled to get an AA in Applied Marine Engineering. I'm not actually going to the campus for my classes, I'm going through the "online" college. After com...Expand for more
pleting my AA, I'll enroll at Old Dominion University to get a BS in General Engineering Technology with a Minor in Engineering Management. Upon completion of my degree, I plan to retire from the Navy and apply to work with MSC (Military Sealift Command), Cruise Liners, State Ferry Transits, or any University Sea going research vessals.
Workplace
Upon graduating from Toledo High, I moved to Portland and started working. My first job was at Ace Parking at the PDX. I also enlisted into the Oregon Air National Guard as a Security Specialist. After a year of working for Ace Parking, I left there and started working for Texaco for a short time. I really enjoyed that job, but minimum wage sucked and I could barely make ends meet..so I decided to go join the Navy and I have been doing that ever sense;) Although, I did have a 1 year break in service where I joined the Naval Reserves & Managed a Burger King Resturant..that got old really quick!! Felt like I was running a damn daycare center. So, I reenlisted into the Navy and haven't looked back sense.
Military
What can I say? Majority of the stuff is on the Bio's of the commands that I've been assigned too. I can say this though..the Military helped straighten me out and mature. I'm not the pushover that most people use to know..SO WATCH OUT!!LOL;) I've also learned much about "people skills". So, I'm more tolorant towards stupid people.
The military is great. I'd recommend it to anyone. I'd even recommend it to my own children, so they can learn discipline & good order to become better people to the community when they complete their enlistment or commission, whichever they choose.
