William's Story
After finally addressing some addiction issues, a job change brought me to the Providence, RI, area in 1981. I worked at various places through 2016, but mostly 10 years at Hasbro and later 16 years at EMC, where I finally got laid off prior to their acquisition by Dell. That was enough for me ... 39 years in the information technology field. Now I golf and enjoy the gift of life. I just got accepted to an MA in Theology program at the Augustine Institute in St. Louis (distance ed.). Seems kind of crazy at age 70, but I'm feeling restless and dissatisfied.
I've been married to Laura Nakshian, formerly of Worcester & Attleboro, MA, for 35 years now. Laura is now retired from her nurse practitioner position at Brown U. We have two children, Helen, 34, and Nathan, 30. Helen graduated from Clark University in Worcester, MA in May of 2012 with a BA in History, and again in 2013 with an MA in Teaching. graduated from Loyola University New Orleans in May of 2016 with a BM in Jazz Studies and in 2019 with an MS in Music Industry Leadership from Northeastern University. He lives in Brooklyn, NY.
My parents retired to Florida in 2001, living on a golf course, though my father passed away in February of 2014; sister Cathy is near my mother in Florida; brothers Pat in Newburyport & Bradenton, FL, Mike and Pete in NH, and Charlie in North Carolina.
The "now" picture is in Ani, Turkey, adjacent to the Armenian border. The "then" picture was taken by my father on Easter Sunday, 1965, in front of our house at what is now 16 Knott Ave. in Sandwich, MA, which was still a dirt road at the time. L-R in second row is myself and my mother, and brothers Pat, Charlie, and Mike in first row. I've added some other pictures on the "photos" tab, with captions, mostly of my kids since they seem more interesting and photogenic.
