I am currently the Production Supervisor at the Naval Dosimetry Center in Bethesda, MD, where I supervise the reading and processing of the Thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLD) that are worn through out the Navy and Marine Corps, The White House, Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST), and a few other places.

HM1 Willie F. Deadwyler was born on 30 March 1959 in Athens, GA. He entered the US Army in September 1977, and attended Basic Training at Fort Dix, NJ and Infantry School at Fort Benning, GA. He completed a Hometown RecruiterÂs Assistance Program (HARP) tour in March 1978, and then reported to Co. C (Charlie) of the 3rd Infantry Battalion (The Old Guard) (The PresidentÂs Honor Guard) at Fort Myer, VA, where he served on the #2 Firing Squad until he was discharged from the Army in January 1979 due to a family hardship. Petty Officer Deadwyler joined the US Army Reserves in 1980 and was assigned to the 357th Supply and Service Battalion in Athens, GA as the S-4 Administrative Specialist. In 1981, Petty Officer Deadwyler enlisted in the US Navy, and completed Basic Training in November 1981, at Recruit Training Command (RTC), Great Lakes, IL, and Hospital Corps ÂAÂ School in February 1982 at Naval School of Health Sciences (NSHS), San Diego, CA. Following this, Petty Officer Deadwyler was assigned to Naval Regional Medical Center (NRMC), Portsmouth, VA where he was assigned to Ward 6A. After 6 months, he was promoted to Senior Corpsman. After being on the ward for 12 months he reported to the Director of Nursing Service as her Special Assistant with ADDU to the Head, Enlisted Assignments where he assisted in the preparation/publishing of the first edition of the ÂGuide for Senior Ward CorpsmenÂ. In May 1983, Petty Officer Deadwyler transferred to the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute (NAMI), NAS Pensacola, FL as a student in the Aerospace Medicine Technician (HM-8406) course. Helicopter Combat Support Squadron FOUR (HC-4), homeported at USNAS Sigonella, Sicily as the first Medical Department Representative (MDR), with ADDU to the NAS II Flight Line Clinic for squadron support. In August 1995 he reported to Patrol Squadron FIVE (VP-5), homeported at NAS Jacksonville, FL. While attached to VP-5, he was TAD to the Branch Medical Clinic, NAS Jacksonville for squadron support. While at the clinic, he was the Assistant LPO (Administration), Physical Examination Department. In September 1998, he reported to the Branch Medical Clinic, NAS Whiting Field, Milton, FL where he was the Assistant LPO, Aviation Medicine Department and LPO Physical Qualifications (Waivers) and Optometry Clinic. In September 1989, Petty Officer Deadwyler reported to the Naval Undersea Medical Institute (NUMI) in Groton, CT as a student in the Radiation Health Technician (HM-8407) course. In July 1990, after graduation, he reported to the USS EMORY S. LAND (AS-39), homeported at Naval Station, Norfolk, VA as the Radiation Health Technician. In 1992, he assumed additional duty as the Leading Petty Officer for the Medical Department. In September 1993, Petty Officer Deadwyler reported to the Naval Dosimetry Center, Navy Environmental Health Center Detachment, Bethesda, MD as the Leading Petty Officer / Safety Officer. In January 1997, Petty Officer Deadwyler assumed the titles and positions of Senior Enlisted Leader (SEL) and Administrative Officer, Naval Dosimetry Center. Petty Officer Deadwyler transferred to the Fleet Reserve on 30 June 1999.
Petty Officer Deadwyler wears the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Gold Star), Navy Unit Commendation Medal (Gold Star), Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation with Operational Device (Gold Star), Navy ÂEÂ Ribbon, Navy Good Conduct Medal (Four awards), National Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Overseas Service Medal, Coast Guard Special Operations Ribbon and Sea Service Ribbon.
