Willis's Story
I graduated in 1961. I was supposed to graduate in 1960 but it took an additional year and a summer to pick up all the points I lost by clowning around in class. I worked in the Borax mines for a couple of years and realized that I was going to be there for the next 30 years. Or, I might be able to do something else with an education.
I left Boron in 1963 for the big city, Lancaster. I started at AV College but I stumbled into the entertainment world sort of by accident. For the next five years I traveled around making music. heriff’s Department I managed to get a lifetime teaching credential. When I retired in 1986 I went back to school and got my BS Degree and went to work in the insurance industry. While working for Prudential I managed to get my graduate degree in business management just ahead of the new millennium.
After working at a desk for several years I landed a government position at the Official of Personnel Management. They sent me all over the country doing background investigations on security clearance holders. That was a great job.
During this whole process, married twice, had two great kids, retired three times. For the last five years I’ve been associated with the local school district as a safety assistant. I’m now retired and I travel extensively and enjoy my grandchildren!
