Willitte's Story
Life
Fall of '66 went to Japan, met many family members for the 1st time; studied Japanese brush painting. Returned to US early '68, worked for a year to save & go to Merritt College. Met my husband, Michael Hawkeye Herman, a year later. (He is now an internationally touring acoustic blues performer & educator.) Worked at the Oakland Tribune newspaper for 20 yrs. Volunteered at, then worked at the Hearst Museum of Anthropology at UC Berk, 4 yrs, for the Native Amer Repatriation Act project, & concurrently started an in-home transcription business. usical director, & musician for a play. I occasionally go with Michael on his tours--Alaska, France, cruises--then love to be home again in Oregon, surrounded by natl forests between the Cascades & the Siskiyou Mtns.
Also do a little volunteer work for our little police dept, bird watch, garden, & host an acoustic blues jam every Sunday Michael is in town here in our liv rm, or on the back porch in good weather. I get to play some percussion. It's great fun.
