Yadira's Story
Life
Yes! I went to college after my High School Graduation and... got married during my first year to another college student... Jaime Ocadiz. We had a baby girl before our first wedding anniversary! Then... a baby boy before our girl's first birth-day... we worked hard in all aspects. Jaime graduated from UCSD and I graduated from SDSU with a Master's in Latin American Literature -Spanish-. Since then, I have been working as a College Teacher and taking care of my kids -now, almost 11 and 12 yrs old-. I will be divorced any minute now... our court date was Sept. 7, but it was posponed. I love to travel, specially visiting small towns in South of Mexico. I recently visited: Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Queretaro, D.F., Guerrero. Mesoamerica cultures, whenever I have time, I take art and anthropology classes... just for fun. I also belong to a "Mother and Daughter Group" so my pre-teen can interact with other pre-teens and us, moms, can support each other in these difficult times. My daughter is a very artistic and beatiful sister; my son loves to read and practice different sports. I also participate in community service, here in San Diego and in Tijuana. I take my college students to learn about our culture, like a tour to Tijuana... all the good and nice places, they love it and get rid of the ugly misconceptions of our beautiful city. No boyfriend yet! I am too busy painting my little house, working and enjoying my two lovely pre-teens. But, I would like to re-marry before my 38th birthday, and wear a very colorful 'china poblana' style dress.... I hope!!!
