Yolanda's Story
After graduation in 1964, attended Sac City college for 1/2 semester and then moved to San Jose, Ca . My dad worked for the FDA at that time and was transferred to San Jose where I also received my radiology training and graduated. Worked in the hospital where I trained, and in 1968 married to my husband Mike. Since he was in the Navy at that time, we lived in Oahu Hawaii and there in Honolulu our son was born. After Hawaii we 3 moved back to Santa Clara Ca . There I worked in private radiology offices, clinics and eventual Kaiser. 1976 left California and moved to southern Oregon and have been here ever since. Different lifestyle for sure, from big city to rural Oregon with no regrets. Our second child, a daughter, born in Grants Pass 1978, but in 1995 we lost her in a terrible car accident that also took the lives of two other girls. Life has been a struggle since then and we try to appreciate each day we are given. Life is definitely a journey with HUGE bumps along th...Expand for more
e way, but with God's grace we are trying each day to look ahead. On a brighter note we have 3 grandsons from our son, and the oldest is now attending Oregon State. His career plan is to eventually be a pediatrician !! Myself and my husband are retired, he from Real Estate and me from radiology. During my work time I became efficient in diagnostic procedures, including CT, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology special procedures, trauma cases and managed a mammography department for 5 1/2 years. To keep our lives busy we love to travel, especially cruising. Yep, we love cruises! We've been to Mexico, Carribean, Japan, Argentina, Chile, Cape Horn, Italy, Spain, Central America, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, and I to China, England, Germany, Austria, and Bosnia. As I said we love to travel to learn and enjoy other cultures, food and the people. Once our country gets a handle on this Covid we hope to continue to what we love to do. Life is definitely a process!!
