Yvonne's Story
Life as
I currently live in Corsicana, TX. I did not have the chance to graduate from HHS because I moved to Mexico while still attending E O Green. A number of my old friends did graduate in '93. I am looking to reconnect with a few of them. Not many knew what happened to me unless they talked to Denise M. I kept in touch with her by snail mail. I attended college and graduated with an Associates degree in Child Development. I have not been back to Oxnard in over 15 years.
I went back to Oxnard Finally! in 2008 I didn't have a chance to meet with anyone but man....I loved it!
2015/16 update: currently working in Dallas Tx, now that I've turned 40 I would like to know how everyone else is doing. I'm on Facebook
School
I think all my teachers inspired me to get my degree because it is a teaching degree of infants through pre-k ages. It was more of the challenge that I was up for, but I favored hotel work more.
Workplace
I have always had a job where I would work the latest shift possible, since I started college at the age of 17, my first job was at a fast food place that I wa...Expand for more
lked to and from until I got my first car. I went from that to AT&T operator overnight shift, GTE, SBC,& AT&T call centers in Dallas. My first hotel job was in Corsicana, it was something that I didn't think that I would do, I had to leave the hotel for a few months to do my internship for Child Development. I went back to the Hotel until I moved to Austin where I have worked at two different hotels with a few of the same people. The thing that I have learned is that in the hotel business your reputation is your resume. Everybody knows of everybody and what your history.
I like working for Kohl's but I love baking better. People say that they can taste the love I put in.
My favorite memory of my Mom is when it would rain we would come home from school and it would smell like Cookies and she would have a table full of cookies cooling down.
We have been thinking about moving back to Oxnard but that is a big step to take and I know our family wants us there more than anything but I have created a life here in Texas. So, you just never know when I might show up again over there!!!
