Yvonne's Story
Life
I moved up to Washington State almost three years ago...previously we lived in Northern California, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas..had a great spread, five acres, year round creek and beautiful house and outbuildings. I left Chicago back in '89, and moved to Reno, the day before the big quake in Frisco..been out west ever since. I have a daughter, Angelina, who'll turn 16 this December. I'm married to my second husband now for almost ten years, together 13..best man I've ever known. It's kind of funny, my husband is originally from Missouri and he and his sisters all talk with a southern accent, which I've acquired..lol...I've worked mostly in the car business, but have also done legal work, representing my last company in court matters. I've been off work for the last few years due to an injury I sustained. I plan on returning to work pretty soon. I went home to Chicago in '05, for a visit for the first time in ten years, got together with a lot of friends from my old neighborhood, and some from high school. Unfortunately, had to go home twice last year due to the sudden death of my father, and five months later, my uncle passed suddenly as well. I really love living up here in Washington, I live in a very small town, almost seven hundred people, and one signal light..lol...but we're surrounded by a lot of beautiful trees and we're about twenty minutes from an inlet to the ocean...another fifteen minutes from there is the ocean beach that you can drive on...it sure is beautiful to sit and watch the waves come in...and I have seen a whale out in the distance...people here in our area are very friendly and we all wave at eachother as we pass on the roads...I also love the horses that are scattered in pastures around us. Deer frequently make a visit thru town...my daughter Angelina is the light of my world, she has really been a blessing in my life. She had to have brain surgery when she was ten, she was diagnosed with a pituitary tumor when she was eight years old, and we were very close to losing her.
We also have a pit bull named Jackson...he was abandoned at a post office near our home in california when he was six weeks old...we raised him with a lot of love and he's such a big part of our family. He's well mannered and has a great personality. When we first moved to this little town, everyone was afraid of him because of his breed, but now that everyone knows him, they just love him too. I'm generally just a happy girl, and living the life I always dreamed of, out in the country.
2/08/2011 UPDATED STORY
So much has happened since I wrote the original story of where I've been and what I've been...Expand for more
up to. I'm writing a book about my life. There is a lot to tell, and it's going to go way back to my maternal grandmother. My mother, virginia, was a foster daughter of Sgt. Shriver and Eunice Kennedy Shriver, back in the JFK years...mom was there amongst them all. She was present when the family sang happy birthday to JFK...she used to tell me very little about her experiences there. But she did tell me enough to write a book to include her experiences there, in Hyannis Port. She had told me what brats all the kids were..lol...mom was about 16 or 17 at the time.
I have a blog site in which I write excerpts from within my book. I haven't written in a few months due to the holidays and illness, but I'll be back to work on it very soon. ....I was born in the GENEVA DETENTION FACILITY FOR WOMEN. The building was demolished in the '70s, but it left behind a cemetary...FOX RUN CEMETERY..it eerily has a lot of newborn babies buried there, and young children of the girls/women who were detained there in the facility. I was there for three days after my birth in the infirmary. It's actually quite the story about what happened to me after that. More importantly, the reason my mother was placed there to begin with.
My mom was a hellion that's a fact. She pulled a lot of stunts while she lived with the kennedys. The last one is what landed her in the detention facility. She and her then best friend, Liza Minelli, stole Sgt. Shrivers new car and mom was headed back to chicago to see her boyfriend!! can you imagine giving up a life such as she had with the Kennedys, because she missed her boyfriend? Well, they got caught. The big secret was that mom was pregnant with me at the time she left the compound. During my research, which is how I found out Liza was moms best friend back then, (mom never ever told me that), I believe that she was "put out of public sight" and "to remain quiet" about her "situation"....my mom passed away a year ago october. She took to her grave the identity of my bio father. She would get very angry when I asked her questions about any of it, having to do with my father.
I wished so much, that when she passed on, perhaps she left a letter for me telling me the truth about his identity...but she did not...it would have to be someone from the compound. Perhaps famous, perhaps a stable boy...it is to wonder about for now. All I seriously care about, is finding out the truth, for I feel incomplete and always have.
Also, big news...I'm a grandmother of two little girls now...joy noel is 2 and evey marie (named after me, thankyou lol) is 5mos....so much love in my life now...
