Zan's Story
Life
While I was growing up, I worked at my mother's store, Colson's Corner and went to Bryan public schools. After finishing high school at SFA in '63, I went to Sam Houston to become a teacher. I took some courses at A&M in the summer of '64. I married LeRoy Brown in '65, and got a BA from Sam Houston in '66. Then I moved to the San Antonio area with LeRoy and began teaching English & Spanish at Medina Valley High School in Castroville, Texas. in '81. In '82 my daughters and I moved to Austin and I began law school at UT, and finished in '84, and passed the bar in '85. Along with my J.D., Erin and Kacey got "P.M.T." degrees from UT Law, for "Putting Mom Through." I had a private practice in SA from '85 til '08. I did mostly family law, and had a number of cases on the abused and neglected kids docket. Kacey had Nathaniel in '96, and Erin added Aiden in '00, Colin in '02, and Jaci in '04. In '08 I moved to Longview where I work for the Gregg County D.A's office. I miss my SA friends, but love being closer to the my girls and their families.
