Ok! Here's the latest! A couple of weeks ago, Kyle Wessels, Dave Freeman and I spent an afternoon searching for a venue to accommodate our August 1, 2024 fifty year re-union. We believe that the best location found is: Fox Hollow Chalet. Google it! It's situated in the foothills of the Chugach Range adjacent to a par 3 golf course with great mountain views and southern exposure. A very good feature about this choice is that we "own" it from 9am-midnight. Plenty of time to re-acquaint with with classmates by playing a round of golf (at discounted rates) and/or BBQ, horseshoes, etc., before the evening festivities! The cost to rent this venue is $2500. A required $500 deposit has been graciously pre-paid by Kyle (you will be re-paid Kyle!) to hold for us. Total balance due will be 90 days before event, around May 1. Included on site: a kitchen/bar large enough for our needs, assorted table/chairs, a nice sound system w dance floor, grill, outside propane heaters, covered deck and more. Not included: food, drinks and bartenders (we will need to hire bartenders account liability issues and is required by Fox Hollow). Gary Cartwright has offered his expertise and connections in the food industry to spearhead this aspect of planning. He has also suggested we purchase alcohol from Costco as they will accept returns on any unused booze. Total cost are difficult to predict at this point in planning. However, if we assume $2500 for rent of the venue, $2500 for the food, drinks and bartenders and 50 classmates and partners attending, it would come to about $100 p/p. Non-drinkers would not be required to pay for alcohol so you can see why this is a very rough estimate. And, the more classmates that attend should reduce our costs. That is why, at this point, we need to get the word out to those who are not part of the social media scene to inform them of the plan and add their names to the list. 50 years!
