Dunbar High School: Class of 1959 Reunion (62th)
Details
The Dr. Lawrence E. Graves Museum of Dunbar High School History presents "The Dunbar Legacy: Passing the Torch of Excellence, 1870-2013”. It is a one-hour documentary written and produced by Phil Portlock '59 and narrated by Phil’s wife, Pat Sloan. The film traces the school’s long and rich history when it opened as the Preparatory High School For Colored Students in November of 1870 in downtown Washington, DC. It was the first public high school of its kind in the nation. Over the years, the dedicated faculties and administrators of Dunbar High School, and its predecessor schools have provided a nurturing and no-nonsense environment which has produced many outstanding graduates such as former NFL Tight End, Vernon Davis; Jazz Vocalist, Shirley Horn; U.S. Representative, Eleanor Holmes Norton; and Medical Surgeon and Researcher, Dr. Charles Drew, who have made important contributions to the nation and the world. THE DUNBAR LEGACY LIVES ON! Join us at the Zoom Meeting at 7:30 pm!
