2024 Annual Banquet - Cancellation Notice Greetings Gaels Alumni, Sons-of-the Gaels & Friends: It is with sad and heavy hearts that we announce that there will be NO more St Philip Gaels Alumni Dinners which we have enjoyed for the past 50-some years. The combination of rising costs ($65.00 to meet expenses) and continued loss of Gaels force us to cease in our efforts to host our dinners. This decision is NOT easy to make but both our per person meal cost and credit card processing fees are up, in part because we can no longer promise 100 Gael diners. The four years I spent at St Philip remain the happiest time of my life. This, despite the fact that they threw me in the honors program when all I wanted to do was to play hockey! Friendships formed at St. Philip have supported me throughout my adult life. We will post class lists on our Website: www.stphilipgaels.org. Before we go there are a number of items to clear up: Kudos and Thank you go out to: The Servite Priests and Brothers along with a host of lay teachers who did their best to turn us from boys into young men. The Brennan Brothers, Thomas ’35, and Jack ’53, who ran our dinners at the old Mar-Lac House in Oak Park working with the late Mr. Lou Fabbri during their ~40-years at the helm. A special thank you goes out to Kathy Koutsogiannis, and her excellent staff for our years at the Abbington. Kathy had capably taken over for Mr. Fabbri and combined they have hosted our banquets for 50+ years. We owe Rick Iaccino ‘65 a debt of gratitude for setting up our database, the original website, as well as organizing dinners for 20 years. Since our school closed in 1970, our numbers have grown smaller as our brother Gaels have passed on. Given this unique bond that we share, we found a way to pass it on to our sons, stepsons, sons-in-law, grandsons, and great-grandsons.
