Carrie Marie Underwood (born March 10, 1983) is a singer, songwriter, and actress. She graduated from Checotah High School, in Checotah, Oklahoma, in 2001, where she participated in both choir and glee club. She was also salutatorian of her graduating class. Underwood auditioned for American Idol in 2004 and ended up becoming the show’s season 4 winner. Her first single, “Inside Your Heaven,” released in 2005, entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number one. Her first album, Some Hearts, immediately grabbed the top spot for Billboard Top Country Albums. Since then, Underwood has continued to set records and win awards and is considered to be one of the most successful musical artists of any genre. She was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry as a member in 2008.
