Derek Sanderson Jeter (born June 26, 1974) is an American professional athlete and former shortstop in Major League Baseball. He attended Central High School in Kalamazoo, Michigan. In high school he played basketball. Jeter is best known as shortstop for the New York Yankees where he won five World Series Championship titles.
