Jimmy Smits (born July 9, 1955) is an actor. He is a 1973 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, in Brooklyn, NY, where he participated in theater and was a member of the senior council. Smits was introduced to a national viewing audience in 1984, when he appeared in the premiere episode of Miami Vice as Sonny Crockett’s original partner. Two years later, he landed the role of Victor Sifuentes in the popular drama L.A. Law and soon found himself busy with more acting projects (even making time to guest-star on Pee-wee’s Playhouse in 1989). Smits’ fame grew in 1994 when he was cast as Detective Bobby Simone in NYPD Blue. Other notable work includes roles in The West Wing (2004-2006), Dexter (2008), and Sons of Anarchy (2012-2014). On the big screen, Smits is known for his portrayal of Senator Bail Organa in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002), Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005), and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016).
