Jeffrey “Jeff” Warren Daniels (born February 19, 1955) is an American actor, musician, and playwright. He graduated with the class of 1973 from Chelsea High School, in Chelsea, Michigan, where he was voted “Most Representative Boy” by his graduating class. He was also a member of the Madrigals and played on the basketball and baseball teams. Daniels began his acting career at the beginning of the ‘80s, making his big-screen debut in Ragtime. Two years later, he landed his breakthrough role, co-starring in Terms of Endearment. Although primarily a dramatic actor, Daniels became well-known for portraying Harry Dunne in the comedy Dumb and Dumber (1994), a role he reprised for the film’s 2014 sequel. Other notable movies include The Purple Rose of Cairo (1985), Something Wild (1986), Arachnophobia (1990), Gettysburg (1993), Pleasantville (1998), The Hours (2002), and The Squid and the Whale (2005). More recently, he starred in the HBO series The Newsroom (2012-2014). Daniels founded the Purple Rose Theater Company in Chelsea in 1991. He has also recorded six record albums and uses proceeds from their sales to benefit The Purple Rose Theater.
