Scott Richard Weiland (October 27, 1967 – December 3, 2015) was an American musician, songwriter, and lead vocalist for the successful rock bands Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver. He graduated with the class of 1986 from Edison High School in Huntington Beach, California. In high school, he was part of the booster club, choir, and madrigal ensemble. Weiland rose to fame with the Stone Temple Pilots’ first album, Core, in 1992. Weiland became the vocalist for Velvet Revolver in 2003 to record a series of hit songs, with their debut album, Contraband released in 2004.
