Daniel Constantine Marino, Jr. (born September 15, 1961) is a former professional football player. He is a 1979 graduate of Central Catholic High School, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he was captain of the football team as well as a member of the baseball team. Although he was drafted by the MLB’s Kansas City Royals in 1979, Marino elected to go to college and play football instead. Four years later, he was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the first round of the 1983 NFL draft. Marino played his entire career with the Dolphins, finally retiring before the 2000 season. His number 13 was retired that same year. Although he never received a Super Bowl ring, he is considered to be one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.
