John J Mellencamp (born October 7, 1951), also known as John Cougar Mellencamp is a singer and songwriter. He graduated with the 1970 class of Seymour High School in Seymour, Indiana. In high school he was in the art club, spanish club, and photo club. He also was on the football team and sang in the school choir. Mellencamp is best known for his solo career as a rock musician. His career has spanned several decades beginning in the 70s over which he has had multiple Top 10 singles like Hurts So Good, R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A., and Cherry Bomb. He also has received multiple Grammy nominations.
