David Hoyt Canary (August 25, 1938 – November 16, 2015) was an American actor. He graduated with the class of 1956 from Washington High School, in Massillon, Ohio. In high school, Canary was in the National Honor Society, was a member of the debate team, and sang with the choir. He was nominated “Outstanding Senior Boy” by his graduating class and played on the football team, which earned him a scholarship to the University of Cincinnati. He is best known for his starring role in the television series Bonanza. He is also well known for his dual roles as Adam and Stuart Chandler in the popular soap opera All My Children, which earned him five Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor. Canary has also appeared in other shows such as Law & Order, Touched by an Angel, and Hawaii Five-O along with movie roles in Hombre and The St. Valentine’s Day Massacre.
