Samuel Roy”Sammy” Hagar (born October 13, 1947) is an American singer and musician. He attended high school at Fontana High School in Fontana, California. After graduation, he found success in the ’70s in the rock band Montrose and later with a solo career. In 1985, he found short-lived success when he stepped in as the lead singer of Van Halen. He departed from the band the following year.
