H.Alonzo's Story
PR/ BIO: H. ALONZO JENNINGS
H. Alonzo Jennings is an artist, photographer, poet, jazz aficionado, and raconteur. He teaches art at the William Allen Middle School in Moorestown, NJ, and taught eight summers at a school for severely at risk children. He is graduate of Montclair University ¿68¿ and the Woodrow Wilson School, Princeton University ¿72¿ MPA. Alonzo was born in Paterson, NJ and raised in Georgia, Passaic and Paterson, NJ.
After graduating from Princeton alonzo and his family moved to Africa where he lived and worked
in Ethiopia, Ghana and Nigeria for several years
Alonzo has written four volumes of poetry: WORDS, ENOUGH TO DIE FOR, HAIKU IMAGES:THE HOLOCAUST MUSEUM VOICES OF THE DEAD and ECO, JOY and ENCOUNTER WITH GOD
Alonzo¿s poetry addresses themes of the human condition, love, social consciousness, individual
responsibility and culture. He speaks passionately of the power of words and those that wield them to heal, challenge, clarify and perhaps make right some of the problems of the world.

He has also written THIS WAS JAZZ, a book containing 160 of his photographs of legendary Jazz musicians, poetry about jazz, and it¿s creators along with commentary on music, art and the creative process.
Alonzo has exhibited his photo graph's of Africa and jazz musicians at the Serengeti Plaines in Montclair, NJ, The New York State Fair Syracuse, New York (2004 -2006), The Burlington County College, The MAAC exhibit and auction in Moorestown, NJ, Urban Word Café Trenton, NJ, Burlington County Library Eastampton, NJ, Broadway/LRC Gallaries Paterson, NJ. The Princeton Arts Council Princeton, NJ. The Willingboro, NJ Public Library.
In addition to the above Alonzo hosts monthly poetry work shops and readings at The Barnes and Noble in Moorestown, NJ and co-hosted the Thursday night slam at the Urban Word Café in Trenton,NJ for over three Years.
Alonzo will return to West Africa/Ghana in 2008 to add a second chapter to his exhibit on the slave castled of Ghana
