Mary's Story
Now residing in Raymond, NH. Scott and I and have lived here for over 7 years
and really enjoy all of our options for hiking on rail trails and in the mountains. I have been volunteering at Great Bay Estuary teaching kids 1-4th grade about the history of the area, how to race mud snails, how to use their 5 senses while visiting the estuary and how they can help preserve this beautiful area. A wonderful program. I also volunteer with Camp Resilience which has developed activities like hiking, kayaking and snowshoeing programs for our Vets, First Responders and Caregivers that are seeking help to stabilize their broken and wounded emotions, bodies and state of mind. isited our grandaughter in Hot Dallas. This fall I had the opportunity to volunteer at The Mount Washington Observatory. I stayed on the Mtn from Wed-Wed in a very small bunk room. Rebecca and I were responsible for dinners promptly at 6, manned the gift shop/museum 3 hrs a day and kept the living quarters clean. The gift shop was my favorite activity bc it gave me the opportunity to meet people from all over the world, talk with the thru hikers and day hikers. We had a few hours each day to experience the ruggedness and beauty of the White Mtns. All of the Observers we lived with were in their 20's that was pretty impressive and amazing to me. We had great weather in the 40's and only a couple am/pm fog. Pretty amazing place, look up MWOBS if you are interested. The Auto Road, Cog Railway, and NH State Park all work on the Mtn and 3 different gift shops compete for your $.
