Phyllis's Story
High school was such a blur for me. I don't remember that much about it. I suppose like many, their teen years were years that we'd all like to forget (at least I would).
I graduated mid-term my senior year and moved out of state, only keeping in touch with one person that I knew in high school.
When I returned to San Diego four years later, I ran into some that I remembered, but a year later I moved away from San Diego for good.
I do come to San Diego to visit family, as my mother and one of my brothers still live in San Diego.
Its really funny how past experiences can lay the groundwork for our future decisions and keep us focused on the goal and not the past (thank God!).
I've recently decided to attempt to reconnect to see if there was anything truly meaningful in terms of relationships with former classmates.
Sadly for me, many of the people I remember from my teenage years - a lot from classes ...Expand for more
ahead of me, some in my class, died really young.
I initially married young (a BIG mistake); and had one daughter (the only child I birthed). I have since remarried; and like all marriages they have their joys, trials and challenges.
Relying on my faith (and thank God that my mother had the foresight to put "spiritual breadcrumbs" in my pocket that I would later need to find my way to sanity and peace through God), I know that I'm very blessed and God is all sufficient to me and all that concerns me.
I've learned that the best learned lessons, are typically the hardest learned lessons...but being the "warrior" that I am, I thank God for His constant pursuit and love He has shown to me.
It is my hope that the survivors of our class and others, will find their way in life's journey and have an attitude of gratitude for all of God's many blessings and lessons He teaches the teachable.
God bless each of you.
