After Benedictine, I completed all my education in Georgia in just 5 years. I received my bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Georgia. I discovered during my four years at UGa that college was a lot of fun. Therefore, I continued my education immediately upon graduating by entering the first class of students working toward a Master’s of Accountancy. I left UGa to start my career in accounting by moving to Atlanta and getting married, for the first time. I also used those years in Atlanta preparing for and passing the CPA exam. Just as I qualified for my certification, I was called to serve my time in the Air Force. It seems they wanted some time since they paid for my undergraduate work. For that I had to spend 90 days in Fort Walton Beach. I left Fort Walton Beach a single man and headed for Laurel, MS to begin the first of several accounting positions in various industries. I worked my way up to be a Chief Financial Officer, but finally, after more than a decade in accounting I discovered teaching and began work on my Ph.D. at Georgia State University. Oh, yea, I came full circle back to Atlanta. I could spend pages describing my working career both in accounting and education.
