Donna Karan (born Donna Ivy Faske on October 2, 1948) is an American fashion designer. She graduated with the class of 1966 from Hewlett High School in Hewlett, New York. In the school, Karan was part of the Drama Club. Karan burst into the fashion world right out of college as an assistant designer to Anne Klein, who would eventually become head of the Anne Klein design-team. Soon after, in 1985 Karan launched her own line, Donna Karan with her first women’s clothing collection. Karan is well known for her famous Essentials line and the launch of DKNY.
