This message is from the official Balboa Alumni Association Board of Directors and is very important. ************************************************************************ FLASH! Perhaps you've heard. The School District is in a 'fast forward' mode to change the names of 44 schools, including our beautiful Balboa -- along with Washington, Lincoln, Lowell, Mission and others. Our Balboa Alumni Association has formed a committee (working with reps of the schools mentioned above, and with Galileo) to stop this renaming project. We are reaching out to all Bucs 'out there' to send e-mails or letters opposing this renaming. We need your help. If you would like to send the Board of Education members and the Superintendent an e-mail message, please write back so that I can provide you with this information. I am not able to included e-mail addresses in this initial message. If you prefer, you can also send the Board of Education members and the Superintendent a letter. Tell them about yourself. Please note that it is estimated that the renaming cost of each school will run from $150,000 to $200,000. What a waste of valuable resources -- better spent to enhance education for our students. And we truly believe that if this name change (God forbid) goes through, much/most of Bal's history and traditions that have created our fabulous school spirit would be lost.
