George Kenneth “Ken” Griffey Jr. (born November 21, 1969 is a former professional baseball player. He graduated with the class of 1987 from Moeller High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. In high school, Griffey played on the varsity baseball team (where he was voted MVP, Best Defensive Player, and Top Hitter) and football team. He was also involved in student government, and in the Youth for Life club. His senior quote was a message of encouragement to the underclassmen of his school. His quote was “To all the underclassmen I say “Goodbye” this year I hope you look forward to becoming a Senior one year.” Griffey is best known for his 22-year professional Major League Baseball career, the majority of which was spent as an outfielder with the Seattle Mariners. After playing with the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago White Sox, Griffey returned to the Mariners before retiring in 2010.
