John Earl Madden (born April 10, 1936) is a retired professional football player, former Super Bowl-winning head coach of the Oakland Raiders, and commentator for NFL televised games. He graduated with the class of 1954 from Jefferson High School in Daly City, California. In high school, he played varsity football, baseball and basketball. In addition to excelling in sports, Madden was in band, Block J, G.P.S.A, and Spanish Club. He is well known as the persona behind the EA Sports/Electronic Arts games Madden NFL.
